SzabolcsSzabó

Software Developer

I build web applications that are quick, deliberate and pleasant to use — from production sites for real businesses to multiplayer game-server tooling.

01About

Writing software that earns its place

I am a software developer based in Hungary. Most of my time goes into TypeScript on both ends of the stack — React and Next.js on the front, Node and Express behind it — and into the parts of a project most people never see: the loading behaviour, the empty states, the moment a page settles.

I started with Lua on multiplayer game servers, which is an unforgiving place to learn: everything runs in a shared tick budget, and every wasted millisecond is visible to every player at once. That habit stuck. It is why I care about bundle size and frame timing on a marketing site as much as on a game resource.

These days I split my time between a FiveM server — Lua on the back, Angular on the front — and production websites for small businesses. I work with AI tooling daily and treat prompting as a real skill rather than a shortcut: it is how software gets built now, and knowing where a model helps and where it quietly gets things wrong is part of the job.

The path so far

2025Present

FiveM Server Developer

Current project

Building a FiveM server end to end: gameplay systems and server logic in Lua, with an Angular front end driving the in-game interfaces. The two halves have very different constraints — one runs inside a shared tick budget, the other has to stay responsive while the game is running underneath it.

2024Present

Freelance Web Developer

Independent

Designing and shipping production websites for small businesses — furniture makers, restaurants — from first sketch through to deployment and handover. Next.js, TypeScript and Vercel end to end.

2022Present

Computer Science Studies

University of Szeged

Algorithms and data structures, database design, and full-stack development on the MEAN stack. Still in progress — the theory that keeps the practice honest.

20202025

Game Server Developer

MTA:SA and FiveM communities

Around five years writing multiplayer game-server resources in Lua — gameplay systems, NUI interfaces, and the performance work needed to keep a server responsive with a full lobby connected. Where I learned to treat a millisecond as a budget rather than a rounding error.
